On April 2, 2007, Frank and our friend Ron went to the Washington Tidal Basin to capture the beauty of the cherry blossoms. This was the first year in over 30 that Frank was able to get down to the District while the blossoms were doing their thing. Japan gave the US these trees in 1912 and more were given in 1956. This event, which usually only lasts a few days before the weather blows away the blossoms, brings hundreds of thousands of visitors to Washington each spring. The last photo is scanned from a Kodacrome slide from 1950. It is a picture of Frank's mother taken by his father on their honeymoon 57 years ago. |
Our next rodeo was in Florida during April. You get the idea we like rodeos.....great cities, great states, and friendly people to visit. Frank had another board meeting to webcast from Florida so that made a good excuse for this vacation. |
While in Florida, we visited our friends Curt and Ellie in Sebring. Here is Ellie with Tom and Frank. Curt is working...as he should. We first met Curt and Ellie when they owned the Country Waye Campground in Luray, Virgina where we began camping way back in 1988. |
From Sebring we headed further west to Tampa and a visit with Frank's sister Sallie, and her husband Ray. Frank's brother Tim came down and we all had a good reunion. While there we toured some nearby open botanical gardens which has some relocated and restored historical buildings from the region. |
Our last day in Florida at Sallie and Ray's home with their cat Fuzz. And lastly a little ice cream before retiring. |
As May came upon us, we went back to the mountains for another visit to the farm. Here is Terry, Bob and Trooper, their dog, with a barn cat that has more spunk than all of us. Their horses are friendly, happy, and loving....although they will test you, if given the chance. The final two pictures are from a nearby herd we frequently see as we exit the valley where the farm is. |
Spring bursts out in full splender in Northern Virginia. These were shot around Glenn's home, another friend of Frank's who lives in Falls Church. |

Here are the pictures of our only camping trip this year, to the US Marine Corps Base Quantico. Their lakeside campground is beautiful. After camping we detected a few trailer problems which needed correcting. We intend to start traveling this spring and will be keeping an online travellog. Be sure to visit and bookmark our travels website for updates as we tour our country. |
In June Sallie came for a visit and she and Frank took that opportunity to drive the trailer back to the manufacturer in Indiana. Charlie Weaver, the manufacturer's warranty manager, was a "God-send". He was friendly and assisted us in getting all the trailer repairs and changeouts done over a two day period. Charlie did a wonderful job in helping us. Thanks so much. |
