| A lighting project for the farm requires a trencher. |
|
 | One of the neighbor's horses, T Man, looks on. |
 | Early one morning Charlie works on Alazar's hoof. You can see who wears the pants in this family. Nothing is more important than the health of the horses. |
|
 | Thanksgiving was spent with our friends at the farm. Terry was the cook and a great job he did. |
 | We did have a couple of minor disasters. A pyrex dish of baked beans exploded on the stove top, and the element in the oven burned out forcing the turkey to be cooked on the grill. One of the best turkeys we had ever had. |
 | Tom relaxes as we wait for dinner to be ready. |
 | A bit later after dark, a stroll up the hill to the barn to take a look at the finished lighting project. |
 | The goal was to illuminate the drive to avoid having to carry flashlights. |
 | Alazar watches as Charlie adjusts the lighting controls. |
 | The horses deserve a Thanksgiving treat so Charlie gives each a carrot. |
|
 | A couple of weeks after Thanksgiving, the neighbor had her ferrier give Alazar new shoes. Afterward Alazar was anxious to get back to his own herd and was running up and down the neighbors corral making his point very clear. |

 | A view of the house, now painted green, from across the valley using a telephoto lens. |
 | In this photo, taken from I66, you can clearly see the northern entrance to Fort Valley. This is the only natural opening into the valley and explains why it's called Fort Valley. At the base of the entrance the chasm is only wide enough for a stream and a narrow roadway. |
 | As mid December approaches, we bid a fond farewell to our friends in Fort Valley, at least for this Holiday CD. Watch our web site for more updates on our adventures at Fort Valley. |
|
 | Just last week, December 7, 2001, we had some tree work done to remove several large trees that had died in our front yard. The only reason for removing them was because if these fell they would have hit the house. But it was a big project. |

 |
 | We left the lower 15 feet of the trunks for the wood peckers. |
 | And as the deadwood is hauled away we haul ourselves away at the end of this tour until next year. Happy Holidays and may you have a great year in 2002. |
